Summer of Tennis Sponsorship

Let us spoil you royally at Hobart’s premier event of the summer

Join Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania and other VIP guests at Hobart Real Tennis Club’s Summer of Tennis 3–5 January 2020. The world’s best real tennis players are descending on Hobart to do battle for the prestigious HRTC Governor’s Cup.

Picture yourself with a party of your most valued clients or staff: after enjoying a gourmet lunch in the historic Trophy Room, you are seated in front row seats of the dedans, sipping French champagne, entertained by some of the best tennis you’ll ever see. The field includes four of the top-10 players in the world, including Camden Riviere, the no.1 ranked player in the world, and Melbourne’s Chris Chapman, the no.3 ranked player in the world.

In addition to some cracking tennis, you and your partner get to attend the Governor’s reception by Her Excellency at Government House and the tournament dinner at the Athenaeum Club. Corporate sponsors will also get great exposure to the highly influential international real tennis community. But you’ll need to be quick because seats are strictly limited. There are three sponsorship packages to choose from, starting at $300.

2020 Summer of Tennis

January is an exciting time for real tennis in Australia, attracting visitors from around the world to watch and experience this festival of tennis. The international tennis year kicks off in Hobart on New Year’s Day with the HRTC Summer Cup, an amateur doubles team event, culminating on Finals Day, 5 January, with the Governor’s Cup. The action then moves north to the Royal Melbourne Tennis Club, where the Australian Open Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles Championships are played from 7 to 13 January. The Open is followed by the Boomerang Cup, from 11 to 24 January. The Boomerang Cup is the biggest amateur real tennis event in the world, attracting players from every real tennis playing nation.

The real tennis community

While the game has a relatively small following compared to many other sports, its players and followers are invariably interested in quality products and experiences. There is strong interest in the sport throughout the UK, in the north-east of the United States, where there are clubs in the major cities, in Paris and Bordeaux, and in Melbourne and Sydney, where the Sydney Real Tennis Club has recently announced its intention to build a new court at Cheltenham.

Hobart and the Hobart Real Tennis Club enjoys a prestigious international reputation. Built in 1875, it was the first real tennis club established in Australia, and thus the oldest tennis club in the southern hemisphere. The club premises and the tennis court at 45 Davey Street are a collection of unique heritage buildings, and its location opposite St David’s Park and close to the Salamanca precinct, make it a special place for followers of real tennis to visit.
