The 2018 Australian Open is set to commence next week on Monday January 1st. In the lead-up to the event, the Men’s Single’s qualifying matches have now been completed. Qualifying match 1 saw John Herbert defeat Justin Legg in 2 sets, 6/0 6/4. Match 2 took place between Tony Blom and John Herbert (below), with Tony winning the match 6/2 6/2, securing his place in the main draw. He now plays Zak Eadle in the first round.
Day 1 kicks off with Graham Hyland (OCFW) vs Chris Chapman (2) at 9am, followed by John Woods-Casey vs Andrew Fowler at 11am. 1pm sees the battle of the “French”, Rod McNaughton vs Matthieu Sarlangue, with Nick Howell (4) vs Al Ramsay taking place at 3pm. The 5pm match will be Kieran Booth vs Brett McFarlane – with the match of the day between World number 2, Rob Fahey v Ladies World Champion, Claire Fahey rounding off the days play.
